Records can be searched in the office, ordered from the clerk of the court’s office, and looked through Westchester Records Online. All records are public and can be searched for in Westchester County, New York, online.

You can request an open record, that is, any public record not protected by one or more exceptions and by law, must be disclosed. All pen records are deemed public records, but not all public records are open records.

You can request an open record by filling out an online form, completing all the required fields, and printing the form. The cost for individual records is $15. Checks or money orders must be payable to the Westchester County Archives. Payment via credit cards is not acceptable. Send your request to:

You can request birth, death, and marriage records from Archives or Vital Records in Albany, NY.

You can also request legal records from the Westchester County Clerk. However, matrimonial records are sealed and only available to the parties or the attorneys of those listed in the action.

Visit Westchester Records Online to find certain records on file in the Office of the Westchester County Clerk. You can view information online about these records. The information available for civil cases ranges from 1980 to the present and for criminal cases from 1978.

You can get copies of property deeds from the Westchester County Clerk’s office. Deeds are legal records that transfer an interest in property such as real estate. If you own your home,
your ownership was validated by a deed filed in the Office of the Westchester
County Clerk. The deed will contain the name of the current property owner, the
name of the person or entity to whom the property is being transferred, and a
legal description of the property. The deed must be signed by the party with
legal authority to transfer the property. The signature must be notarized.

The fee for a copy of your deed is $5.00 for up to five pages and $1.00 for each additional page. If you want a non-certified copy, the fee will be $1.30 for two pages with an additional $.65 for each additional page. If you are requesting by mail, you will need to pay an additional $5.00 search
fee.

judgments entered into the legal division last week. New users need
to register to view images. On the website of the office of the Westchester County
Clerk/Records Online, you can register and provide a user ID and password.
